Description
Microcystin-LR (MC-LR) is a toxin produced by fresh water cyanobacteria. It is the most toxic of the microcystins, tumor promoter, potent and selective inhibitor of protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A). Considered to be cell-impermeable with the exception of hepatocytes which take it up via an organic anion pump. Strong hepatotoxin.
